Which licensing system do Mathew Lane plug-ins use?

Mathew Lane plug-ins use the well known PACE iLok licensing system.

Our plug-ins support dongle-free Machine (Host Computer) Authorisation.
A physical iLok USB dongle (iLok2 or iLok3) is optional but NOT required.

Every plug-in license can be activated on two locations (computers or iLoks) simultaneously.

All you need is a free iLok user account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create one on iLok.com .

It is required to have the iLok License Manager installed on the computer where the plug-in is used, as this manager software includes the necessary drivers and extensions for the plug-in license to work.

Do I need an iLok USB dongle?

No, our plug-ins support dongle-free Machine (Host Computer) Authorisation.
A physical iLok USB dongle (iLok2 or iLok3) is optional but NOT required.

All you need is a free iLok user account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create one on iLok.com .

Is there a difference between the demo and the purchased version?

No, both use the same installer and are identical. The only difference is the License you are using: a temporary Demo License or a Permanent License.

Activation & Authorisation

How do I activate my Mathew Lane plug-in(s)? - 1st & 2nd activation

When demo-ing or buying a Mathew Lane plug-in, you will receive an iLok License Activation Code.

To redeem this iLok License Activation Code and to receive and activate your License:

  1. Run the plug-in in your DAW, and choose ‘Activate’ in the pop-up window.
  2. 1st activation: Enter (copy/paste) your iLok License Activation Code.
2nd activation: Don’t enter your already redeemed Code, but choose ‘No’ to continue.
  3. Login to your iLok user account.
  4. 1st activation: Select a location (computer or iLok) for your License to activate to.
2nd activation: Select your available License and then a location to activate it to.

Advanced license management such as moving and (de/re-)activating licenses between different locations (computers or iLoks) is possible using the iLok License Manager.

Please note that to authorise an internet connection is required. When using an iLok USB dongle, you can move the dongle after authorisation from an internet connected computer to an offline DAW computer.

It is required to have the iLok License Manager installed on the computer where the plug-in is used, as this manager software includes the necessary drivers and extensions for the plug-in license to work.

My existing license does not support Machine Authorisation and/or Dual Activations?

If you own a DrMS or StereoDelta license already from before we offered Dual Activations (mid 2019), its activation info visually shown in the iLok License Manager will not always be updated at once. It therefor might look as if Machine Authorisation and/or Dual Activations are not possible. However:

  • In most cases, you can just go ahead and activate it to a 2nd location of your choice anyway, using the 2nd activation instructions in the FAQ above. Afterwards, the additional activation will be visible in the iLok License Manager as well, on its new activated location.
  • Alternatively, you will see the 2nd activation become available as soon as you de-activate your existing license and then re-activate it again, both using the iLok License Manager. Next, you can activate the license to a 2nd location. See the iLok License Manager Manual if you’re not sure how to de- and re-activate a license.

Please note that if you’re de-activating your license from an old iLok1, you will not be able to put it back onto an old iLok1. You can re-activate it only to an iLok2/3 or a Machine (computer). If you leave your license untouched on your old iLok1, it will continue to work as before, but you will not gain access yet to the additional 2nd activation and Machine authorisation option.

Is iLok1 still supported next to iLok2/3 and Machine Authorisation?

No, at least not for new users.

Existing users that have their license on an old iLok1 can continue to use it like before, until they de-activate their license.

After de-activating, you will not be able to put your license back onto an old iLok1. You can re-activate the license only to an iLok2/3 or a Machine (computer). If you leave your license untouched on your old iLok1 however, it will continue to work as before, but you will not gain access yet to the additional 2nd activation and Machine authorisation option. Also see the FAQ above.

Can I demo a plug-in again?

You can use the 14 day Demo License only once per plug-in.

If you’d like an additional demo period however for any good reason, we can manually post a 14 day Trial Extension License into your iLok account. Please email us with this request and be sure to include your iLok account so we know where to post the Trial Extension License.

Do I automatically have an account on your new site as existing customer?

No. This means customers who purchased any plug-in(s) from mathewlane.com before March 21, 2018 will not automatically have an account with their then used email address as login.

This also means the ‘Lost Password’ link will not work when trying with your email address used for purchases in the past.

Please also note the next FAQ regarding previously made purchases.

To get a login on our new site for future purchases, simply register for a new account with any username and email address you like. This can be the email address used for purchases in the past, but does not have to be, you’re free to choose what you’d like to use for the future.

The Purchase History in My Account does not show all the plug-ins I own?

The Purchase History will only show purchases made on this site since March 21, 2018.

If you have bought Mathew Lane plug-ins direct from mathewlane.com in the past, before the current website, they will not show up in your Purchase History list. No worries however, we have kept record in our office of those purchases for support, future upgrade paths and/or special customer deals.

If you have bought Mathew Lane plug-ins via a 3rd party dealer, they will not show up in your Purchase History list either. Again, no worries, we keep record of those purchases!

First, delete the old DrMS.aaxplugin and/or StereoDelta.aaxplugin from the following folder:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins

Then run the new plug-in version installer(s) again, all will be fine now!

Windows asks if I want to allow to overwrite PlugIn.ico on installing your plug-in?

If you have previously installed an older version of DrMS or StereoDelta, it’s possible that the then installed PlugIn.ico file was read-only and cannot be overwritten without your permission. No worries, go ahead and allow the new plug-in to overwrite the old one!

DrMS presets are not listed in alphabetical/numerical order on OSX?

For OSX High Sierra and up, you simply need to update to DrMS v5.2 and all is good again!
